1 John 2:17 New International Version (NIV)
17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever
We live in a temporal society. Here today, gone tomorrow. Things rust, thieves break in and steal, economies crash. There is nothing in this life that will last forever. The Bible says that even the heavens and the earth will one day be re-created. We are encouraged in God's Word to look at the unseen things and not the things that are seen. The eternal things, not the temporal things.
Much of the world's focus is in the realm of the temporal things. What we wear, where we live, what car we drive, how much money is in the bank, etc. But God makes an unshakable promise that has nothing to do with the temporal things of this world.
Those who do the will of our God and Father will live forever! What a promise! May we fix our eyes today on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith and seek to simply be obedient to what He calls us to do at this moment. Because of Jesus, we have a promise to live forever in His glorious kingdom. Hallelujah!
